Utility Technician II - VA06429
Responsible for the following functions: 1. Responsible for the repair and upkeep of all mechanical and electrical equipment at the plant and lift stations. 2. Performs visible and technical inspection on equipment. 3. Adjusts, calibrates, repairs and maintains mechanical and electrical motors, pumps and equipment. 4. Operates repairs, rebuilds and maintains water and wastewater pumps and motors and related equipment. 5. Maintains records on equipment and preventative maintenance procedures. 6. Dismantles and repairs gear boxes. Performs plumbing at the plant and lift stations. 7. Maintains and repairs other types of tools, machines and equipment. Performs welding on pumps, machinery and equipment. 8. Maintains an inventory of parts, tools and equipment. 9. Adheres to safe work practices and follows safety policies and rules. 10. Maintains neat and clean work environment. Will work outdoors, be exposed to elements and confined spaces. Will serve on-call. 11. Performs confined space entries at wastewater plant and lift stations to maintain or repair equipment. 12. Adherence to company policies and procedures including following work order, procurement and other processes. 13. Ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere. 14. Ability to work on call as schedule dictates. SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL OR REGISTRATION QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or the equivalent. Three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment necessary. Must have a valid State of Virginia driver?s license with a good driving record. A CDL is preferred. Virginia Collections 1 preferred and ability to acquire Grade II within 1 year of hire KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ? Knowledge of confined space entry and tools necessary for safe procedures i.e. monitors full protection and retrieval equipment. ? Safe and Practical Use of Simple Equipment or Hand Tools, Such as Wrenches, Shovel, Pick, Hammers, Saws, Chisels ? Adhere to Safe Driving Practices ? Good Physical Condition to Enable Loading, Unloading and Movement of Equipment and the ability to lift tools weighing Up To 150 lbs. Ability to perform continuous Walking and Lifting of Objects up To 50 lbs. ? Attention to Detail ? Ability to learn to work with computers ? Safe and Efficient Methods of Loading and Unloading Trucks and Equipment ? Map Reading or Knowledge of Facility Locations ? Common Courtesy in Answering Basic Questions from Customers ? Basic Maintenance and Repair Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Systems ? Procedures for Reporting Accidents ? Basic Mathematical Skills ? Diagnose Analyze and Correct Problems of Wastewater plants and collections systems. ? Use of Sensitive Electrical Instruments ? Pump Station Maintenance, Repair and Replacement (Electrical and Mechanical) ? Knowledge of Functions, Policies and Procedures of Department ? Familiarity with Company Forms Required for Related Work ? Interpersonal Skills ? Operations of Hydro-jet and Camera equipment used for collection system maintenance.
