Sr Facility Operator - NC06518-2
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Primary responsibilities include the supervision of employees, the provision of safe and dependable wastewater services to customers and the management of company facilities, equipment, tools and inventory and the direct operation and maintenance of wastewater systems. Responsible for the following functions: 1. Organize the daily activities of the Facility operators in the area in order to best meet customer service objectives, regulatory requirements and company goals. 2. Develop specific goals and annual performance objectives for each operator in the area. Conduct annual performance appraisals of each operator. 3. Monitor compliance with all company policies and state and federal law requirements such as OSHA rules for employee safety. Report any areas of concern to the management. 4. Review, approve and forward to the office a timely and accurate timesheets for all employees you supervise for payroll purposes. 5. Properly code all invoices and forward to accounting for payment. 6. Administers operating and capital budget within area of responsibility. 7. Lends technical assistance to Wastewater Treatment Operators as needed. 8. Ensure compliance with the standards pertaining to the operation of wastewater facilities in the State of North Carolina for the wastewater systems in the area. Insure the completion of sampling and testing required for regulatory compliance. 9. Schedule 24/7 on-call coverage of the assigned service area by a licensed operator. 10. Notify the customer service department of wastewater issues or availability issues and necessary corrective actions. 11. Coordinate response to service interruptions, sewer overflows, and customer requests with the customer service department to provide prompt, courteous and efficient dispatch of company personnel and resources. 12. Provide documentation of field activities through the work order system. 13. Insure the proper maintenance of company owned wastewater systems. 14. Working with the engineering, recommend and implement improvements to company owned facilities in accordance with the annual capital budget. 15. Collect and file with the appropriate office of DWQ monthly reports as required by the State of North Carolina. 16. Establish and manage an appropriate level of inventory for each service vehicle and each warehouse location in the assigned area. Insure accurate and timely documentation of inventory purchases and uses for financial purposes. 17. Make the necessary tools and equipment available to the operators in your area through ownership or efficient rental programs. 18. Oversee the proper maintenance and repair of company owned equipment and tools in your area. 19. Perform the duties of the responsible operator for assigned wastewater systems in accordance with company policies and the rules of the State of North Carolina. 20. Provide supervisory on-call duty as necessary to assist the operators on call. This may include performing on-call duties for water system in the area as well. 21. Participate in meetings as required. 22. Participate in activities of various professional organizations, and attend seminars and training courses when necessary to maintain technical competency. 23. Participate on company committees and programs, as required. 24. Act as liaison between Company and regulatory officials and customers. SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL OR REGISTRATION QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or the GED equivalent is required. This position requires prior supervisory experience. This position also requires a valid driver?s license and a valid State of North Carolina Grade 2 Wastewater License. BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Payroll timesheet review and approval, procurement of chemicals, materials, supplies and outside contractor services, inventory management, and transportation cost management. Ensure proper coding of invoices and timesheet for capital projects. Assist in the preparation of annual and five year capital budgets.
