This is advanced professional work in civil engineering. The incumbent has responsibility for plans development or review of engineering design and construction work involving Public Works/Utility projects to include but not limited to: bridges; drainage systems and streets including traffic signals, signs, and markings; water and wastewater facilities; and structures. Assignments are usually made by a superior who defines the scope of the work to be performed, but the incumbent is afforded considerable opportunity for using independent judgement in planning work details and in making technical decisions. The work ordinarily is performed under the general supervision of an experienced superior who inspects work in progress and upon completion. Supervision is exercised over Inspectors, Engineering Technicians and Engineering Assistants.

Qualifications:

Bachelor?s degree from a four-year college or university accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by the U. S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field, and

Two years of recent experience in technical civil engineering office and field work is preferred.

An EI (Engineering Intern) Certificate is preferred.
